Feb 21st, Beaver Tailwaters

Got out to hit the Beaver Tailwaters for a few hours on Saturday.  Fish were pretty active and some pretty good numbers were caught.  I started fishing just before 10am and had several quick hookups.  Then a hatch came on and the fish were very active on the surface.  I’m not an experienced fly fisher so IContinueContinue reading “Feb 21st, Beaver Tailwaters”

Fishing Beaver Tailwaters Feb 7th, great winter weather!

Can’t believe this weather for this early in Feb.  Weather was so nice to get out and fish and a lot of people thought the same thing.  Haven’t seen so many people out both bait fishing and fly fishing since early October. Fishing was good on midges (purple, blue dun, rootbeer, rainbow) and tan scuds.ContinueContinue reading “Fishing Beaver Tailwaters Feb 7th, great winter weather!”

Norfork Winter Trip Jan 24th, Trout keying on the Scud in Tan or Brown

Made the trek over to Mountain Home, AR to fish the Norfork Saturday with a couple fishing buddies.  We were able to catch a Cutthroat, few Browns, and lots of Rainbows.  We used a variety of tackle from flies to jigs to crank baits. They ended up generating on Saturday morning so we decided toContinueContinue reading “Norfork Winter Trip Jan 24th, Trout keying on the Scud in Tan or Brown”

Beaver Tailwaters Jan 17th, love the Pheasant Tail Nymph!

Great morning fishing the Arkansas Beaver Tailwaters!  Fishing was fair on Black or Brown Zebra Midges, Pheasant Tail Nymphs, Egg Patterns and Red San Juan Worms. The wind sure made it feel colder than it actually was with a pretty constant wind from 10 to 15 mphs.  I was fooled into thinking it was going to beContinueContinue reading “Beaver Tailwaters Jan 17th, love the Pheasant Tail Nymph!”

Three for Three Fishing

Started the year out great with 3 straight days of fishing. I was able to get out for a few hours of fishing the Beaver Tailwaters each day to start this year.  I was going to go for four, but my friend ended up sick this morning and with snow, cold weather and strong wind andContinueContinue reading “Three for Three Fishing”

Almost Got Skunked, Jan 2nd

Another great day to hit the water for the New Year.  Fishing was a little tough this morning.  I only managed to land one fish on a Rootbeer Midge and that was after I had tried nearly everything in my fly box. When I got to the Beaver Tailwaters around 9:30am, I found they hadContinueContinue reading “Almost Got Skunked, Jan 2nd”

Happy New Year 2015

Nice cold day for fishing.  Great way to start the New Year! Big winter storm pushing our way today, but I still managed to get out and get a couple hours fishing in this afternoon on the Beaver Tailwaters.  The fish were pretty active on the surface, but I haven’t figured out how to getContinueContinue reading “Happy New Year 2015”

Beaver Tailwaters Dec 27th

Great morning fishing in the cold and freezing rain.  Fishing was pretty productive with several different midge patterns.  Good midges were Black with silver, Black with copper, White with red thorax, Blue dun, Purple, and Rootbeer.  Sub-micro jigs in white and olive were productive as well.  Caught around 30 fish in about 4 hours. WeatherContinueContinue reading “Beaver Tailwaters Dec 27th”
